What is Agnostic Theme?

Agnostic Theme is a WordPress block theme designed for WooCommerce stores that need to be fast. It uses the Full Site Editor for all layout and template management, with zero JavaScript runtime overhead.

Architecture

The theme is built around WordPress’s theme.json specification. All design tokens, spacing scales, color palettes, and typography are defined in a single configuration file. This means the WordPress editor and the frontend always render identically.

No jQuery. No JavaScript runtime at all. The theme produces clean, semantic HTML styled entirely with Tailwind CSS utilities compiled at build time.

Template Hierarchy

Agnostic Theme provides WooCommerce-specific templates:

• Single Product - Optimized layout with lazy-loaded gallery, structured data, and conversion-focused placement
• Product Archive - Fast-loading grid with pagination, no infinite scroll bloat
• Cart & Checkout - Streamlined layouts designed for CheckoutWC integration
• My Account - Clean, accessible account dashboard templates

Design Tokens

The theme.json file defines an OKLCH-based color system with semantic naming:

• Surface, card, and border colors for light theme
• Primary neutral scale (50-950) for typography and UI
• Accent colors derived from brand guidelines
• Consistent spacing scale using WordPress fluid spacing

Getting Started

Clone the repo, install dependencies, and run the Tailwind build. The theme works with any WordPress 6.4+ installation and pairs perfectly with Agnostic Blocks.
